Natalie Decker #04 Update // May 26th, 2011 // State Park Speedway -- This was my first race in my new Super Stock Car at State Park Speedway in Wausau. With a few test sessions at Wausau, I struggled with a very loose car and it was a big move from a mod 4 front wheel drive to a rear wheel. During the feature I had a couple of spinouts and my final spinout happened on the last lap, so I completed 24 out of 25 laps. The next day, I raced in Plover at Golden Sands Speedway. I timed in 6th. In my heat run I started at the back and made my way to 4th position. Coming around turn 4 on the last lap in my heat, I heard a loud “bang” which shut down my engine and I coasted across the finish line going from 4th to last. My dad and all my race friends worked feverishly to fix my engine for the feature. I went into the feature and pulled off early because my engine was missing. June 3rd, 2011 // Golden Sands Speedway -- I timed in 7th with a hot, slippery track because the outside temperature was 96 degrees! In my heat race, I started inside, back row and worked my way to 2nd place on the last lap. Trying to make my way to a first heat win, the leader break-checked me in turn 3 and 4and I spun him out. The crew worked really hard to replace my radiator in time for the feature. As I was strapped in, waiting to race the feature, I knew my class was on the track warming up. It didn’t look like my car would be ready in time for the feature, until I saw my dad and crew give me the “fire up your engine” sign. As I entered the track, with a missing front hood and bumper, the pack just got the green, so that put me ½ lap behind the group. Eight laps into the race I caught the group and just then there was a big crash in turn four that I managed to avoid. After the restart I moved into 6th place and maintained that position. With four laps to go I got loose on turn two and almost saved it but ended up on the infield. With the engine running very hot, I elected to take it to the trailer. June 9th, 2011 // State Park Speedway -- My car ran good and I completed the 25 lap race with no yellows – race went green to checker! Wausau being such a tight race track, I really need to muscle the car around and 25 laps was hard on my arms. The more racing I do throughout the summer, I am sure my arms will get used to it. I finished in 6th place!
