Paige and Claire Keep it Clean in Madison

September 29th, 2011 (Eagle River, WI) -
Paige and Claire both competed with their Mid Am cars at Madison this past weekend. It was actually a big family event because Chuck and Natalie came along to help out.  The girls started out with practice, Paige having some issues with ignition, but other than that things were going good.  Then came qualifying time.  There were a total of 30 cars here competing for that top 12.  The girls were under pressure.  Qualifying didn't go very well and both Paige and Claire were in the LCQ.  There were a total of 18 cars in this last chance race.  Paige and Claire were starting 8th and 9th, which meant they had some ground to pick up if they wanted to make it into the feature.  In order to make it into the feature they had to finish top 5.  Green flag came out, and they were ready to race.  Paige was up into 6th, and was very close to getting that top 5 when she got very loose coming out of turn two.  Barely saving the car, she lost a spot which went to her sister Claire.  Claire then continued to battle side by side for a solid 6 laps to get that top 5.  And yes she did it; Claire made the pass and secured herself into the feature.  Paige was still coming, trying to make up the ground that she lost from getting loose.  Paige caught all the way up to the guy in 6th place, and crossed the finish line side by side with him, barely missing the feature.

Claire was in the feature, and Paige took her provisional so she was also in.  They were starting a total of 26 cars in the feature.  All the drivers were lined up and ready to go.  Green flag dropped and racing began.  Very quickly cautions started taking place.  There were a lot of crashes, which took out a lot of the top guys and sent them to the back.  All the drivers were getting anxious and aggressive. Paige and Claire however avoided all crashes and had no damage to the car.  And the girls were moving farther and farther up to the front.  Paige finished 9th and Claire finished 10th.  The girls were excited with these finishes because the last Mid Am race wasn't so good.

We would like to thank the crew and all the Mid-American officials.  Paige's next race appearance will be at Oktoberfest; she will be racing the Super Late in the Futures Race on Thursday and also her Mid Am car on Saturday.  Claire will be racing Mid Am. And Natalie will be racing her super stock car on Friday.  We are very excited for this big race and hope to see you all there.
