October 20th, 2011 (Eagle River, WI) - Oktoberfest 2011, what a weekend for Decker Racing! The girls competed in many different classes, and showed the boys they have what it takes. Paige competed in the Super Late Models, and Mid Am. Claire in the Mid Am, and Natalie in Super Stock. The girls showed up Wednesday and had their game faces on. Wednesday Paige tested the Super Late; it was her second time at the track and also only the second time racing the car. Thursday came and today was the Futures race that Paige was competing in. There were a total of 54 cars trying for that top 24 spots. Paige missed the cut-off by three positions. She got second in the Halogens race, which let her transfer into the feature. The green flag dropped, Paige was being very consistent and passing cars on the outside, the car was handling great, and she was gaining positions like crazy. Then came a quick stop to her night, Paige got tangled up with another car trying to pass him on the outside. The crash ended her night. Friday came, and Paige and Claire tested their Mid Am cars. Natalie raced in the Super Stock class and showed she could compete with the best, finishing with a solid 7th place. Later that night they cheered Mark Kraus on in the Super Late Model race. Mark Kraus owns the Super Late that Paige runs. Saturday came, and it was race day for Paige and Claire. Qualifying time; Claire qualified 12th and Paige 26th. Claire was secured in the invert, and the dice roll put her on the pole position for the feature. Green flag dropped and the 30 Mid Am cars were ready to go. Claire led the whole field for the whole first half of the race, while Paige was gaining positions to the front as well. First caution came, and that bunched the field up, which put a lot of pressure on Claire. Green flag waved again, Swan ducked to the inside of Claire, and so did two other cars. Claire then got tangled up with another car, and spun to the inside of the track. She therefore was sent to the back. Paige and Claire ended up finishing the race 11th and 13th.
We would like to thank our whole crew for all the work they have done. Oktoberfest was a great success because of them. Another fun fact for you guys about Oktoberfest. Decker Racing competed in the “Best looking team contest”. There were a total of six teams that competed, and Decker Racing got second. Thank you again!
